There’s this fucked up idea I keep encountering that essentially boils down to, “female gender non-conformity is internalized misogyny” and I think it comes from this misunderstanding of what femininity is. Most things aren’t assigned as feminine randomly. Most things are assigned as feminine in order to sexualize or restrict female people or in order to position them in some way as better reproductive and domestic laborers. Wanting nothing to do with that isn’t in any way an expression of self-hatred.
